"A beautiful way to support the trail"

 

    While developing this project we had a very strong desire to make this available to all members of the trail community.  After brainstorming potential approaches, we at Crest Photography, came up with the installment payment plan.  By utilizing this option, the possibility of owning the Katahdin Art Project can become a reality for most people.  With some minor adjustments, even the tightest budgets can squeeze in the monthly payment of $30.

    The monthly installment plan is available only  for the Memorial Edition.  The Memorial Edition exactly the same as the Signed Edition except for Earl's handwritten signature.  For the Memorial Edition the signature cards were first printed from engraved metal plates with Earl's life span dates and then Bart signed and numbered the cards.  Everything else in the two styles are identical.

The $100 donation  will be disbursed in one of two ways:

 Plan A

$50  Earl Shaffer Foundation

$50  AT Museum Society

$20    Local Hiking Club Pool

 

Plan B

$35  Earl Shaffer Foundation

$35  AT Museum Society

$50  Local Club Chapters

 

 

$30 Installment Payment Fee

   Of this additional  $30.00 fee Crest Photography Inc will only keep $10.00 to pay for our bookkeeping costs.

Plan A

The $20  will go into a pool which will be divided among hiking clubs that request to be involved.

Plan B

The $20.00 will be combined with the $30 donation for a total donation of $50  to the specified local club.

Covers the sending of the Katahdin Art Project anywhere in the world.

    The Win, Win, Win Approach to Fundraising

    We see the installment plan for the Memorial Edition as the ultimate approach to raising money for the Earl Shaffer Foundation and the creation of an Appalachian Trail Museum.  The pot was even sweetened by including an opportunity to help support the local A. T. hiking clubs.

     By pricing the Katahdin Art Project at $250, you the contributor, are receiving an unbelievable value.  This piece of art meets the highest archival standard, based on the research of Henry Wilhelm and his wife Carol Bower.  Photographic prints (without the additional engraved art work of the poem and that are matted, mounted and framed in a less expensive manner) sell in the general price range of $400 to $500.  By checking out other websites it is very evident that there truly is a savings of at least $150. 

    Besides getting an incredible deal on the selling price the Katahdin Art Project, the buyer also is donating money to worthy causes.  With your $250 purchase will also qualify for a federal income tax credit of $100 if you itemize your deductions.  As outlined above, you determine  how to divide your donation!

    The outcome of your $310 investment is that you will own a limited edition collector's piece of art easily valued at $400 and have also donated $120 to worthh while causes.  So the true total of out pocket costs for the actual art work is $190!  

    We at Crest Photography, realize there are not many opportunities available which allows the buyer to make time payments and a charitable donation while investing in a beautiful memento from one of the trail pioneers.  Please consider sharing some of your earnings with the Trail in exchange of alittle piece of Earl's spirit.

      We feel that the individuals that make up core membership of the various hiking clubs along the Appalachian Trail have sense a kinship to Earl Shaffer.  He was man who never let the prevailing conventional wisdom determine his actions, but instead followed his deeply held convictions.  His entire life was a testimonial to the virtues his family valued and the fact that accomplishments are first achieved in the mind's eye.  While signing cards for the project he started joking with Bart that "we are going to get money for an A.T. museum just by writing our names real small, a lot times."  Our approach is based on that belief--each individual sale is the germ seed that will in turn bring to fruition the grand vision of Earl Shaffer.
